I want my room plastered. What next steps should I take?

I want my walls plastered_Essex building and carpentry service
Like with any renovation project, organising for a room to be plastered takes planning. The following basic steps will help…
Step one – budget
The cost of plastering your room will depend upon the size. Small rooms will be charged less than large rooms, although it is possible to get a good rate if several rooms are being plastered at the same time.

Step two – furniture
What is the room you are considering to have plastered used for? If it’s a bedroom, is it big enough for the furniture to be moved around the room or will everything need to be moved out? If you have said yes to the second question, is there somewhere that this furniture can go? Also bare in mind that your plasterer will need to have access to this room with their tools and equipment.

Step three – water
Water is an important feature that plasterers use to make up their plaster and access to a bathroom, kitchen or outside tap will be required.

Step four – sockets and skirting boards
If you are able to remove sockets and mask skirting boards, this will make the plastering job much easier. Plastering around sockets can slow a job down, so taking them off the wall or loosening them so that they are away from the wall is always helpful. No-one wants plastering cement in places where they shouldn’t be, so covering these and flooring is recommended. Your hired plasterer should bring their own dust sheets too.

Step four – research
Do your homework! Plastering services can be searched for online on the internet, social media platforms (like Facebook) or via personal recommendations.

Step five - quotes
Once you’ve done your research and have at least three companies that you like the look of. Give them a call for your free no-obligation quote. They will take some measurements and give you a price.

If you would like to include Essex Building and Carpentry as part of your quotation process, we’d be delighted to give you a price for your job. Our plasterers are skilled at plastering all types, sizes and shapes of rooms.
